What Did My Dad Teach Me About Fishing?

When I was a kid, my dad would take me fishing. I remember how excited I was when we got to the lake. We would sit in his truck and he would drive us to where we were going to fish. He would park the truck and I would get out and start walking down to the lake. I remember being amazed at all of the different types of equipment that he had with him. There was a tackle box, a big cooler full of ice, a tackle box full of lures and worms, and of course a tackle box full of bait. I never knew that he had all of this stuff with him.

I think that it was because he loved to fish. He loved the outdoors and the water. He also loved to eat and I remember that he always had some sort of food with him. It was not like he just took a little bit of food with him and left the rest behind. He would bring a cooler filled with sandwiches, chips, cookies, and soda pop. He would even have a couple of beers in the cooler with him. I thought that was pretty cool. I also thought that he had a lot of stuff with him, but I did not realize that he also had a lot of gear with him.

I remember one time when we went fishing. We drove to the lake and parked the truck. Then my dad started setting up the rods and reels. He would set up one rod and then he would set up another. Then he would go back and set up the other two rods. It was very interesting to watch him do that. He would set up the rods and then he would take the bait and put it in the water. Then he would set up the next rod. Then he would take the line and attach it to the hook. He would put the hook into the bait and then he would pull the line tight. The line was so long that he could barely reach the end of it. Then he would set up another rod. He would put the line in the water and then he would tie the hook to the end of the line.

After he finished setting up all of the rods, he would take a seat and wait for something to bite. It seemed like forever before anything bit. Finally, something bit. My dad let out a yell and jumped up. He pulled the fish up from the water and threw it onto the ground. I was really surprised. I thought that there was no way that he caught that fish. He said that he was not really sure if he actually caught it or not. I was disappointed that I did not get to see the fish that he caught.

It seemed like we fished for a long time. Finally, my dad decided that it was time to go home. I was sad because I wanted to stay longer. My dad told me that we would go back to the lake again tomorrow. I was excited about going back.

The next day, we went back to the lake. My dad did the same thing. He set up the rods and baited them. He let out a yell and jumped to his feet. He yelled “Fish on!” and then he pulled the fish up from the lake. I was shocked. I thought that the fish was too big to be caught. I was happy that he caught it, but I was disappointed that I did’nt get to see it.

I learned a lot about fishing by watching my dad. He taught me a lot of things. I learned that you can catch a lot of fish if you use the right equipment. I also learned that you need to be patient and wait for the fish to bite. I learned that you can be very happy when you catch a fish.

My dad is still fishing today. He is still very active. He enjoys the outdoors. I think that he will always enjoy fishing. I am glad that I get to watch him and learn from him.
